Castle is baaaaack!!

One of my favourite shows from last year was the ABC dramedy “Castle”, starring Nathan Fillion and the exquisite Stana Katic. For some reason, the stars aligned and the show was renewed – tonight was the season premiere. I’ve just finished watching it, and it was as good as I had hoped. It had the right amount of comedy, coupled with some serious moments to keep the story going. The relationship between Castle and Beckett is still not out of the woods yet, but shows some promise. Oh – I just realized something – if you haven’t seen Castle, then you have no idea what I am talking about!

Nathan Fillion plays Richard Castle, a best selling novelist, who hangs out with the Mayor, and Chief of Police, as well as other famous folks. He gets himself a gig riding along with the cops because of these connection, and is partnered with Detective Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic,  who, while being a fan of his novels, doesn’t like the author, finding him to be a cocky, self centered SOB. It’s a match made in heaven!

I’ve uploaded a picture on the left, so you can see them both. I’ve been a fan of Nathan Fillion since I first saw him on “Two guys, a girl and a pizza place”, followed by his stint on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” as a demonic priest (possibly named Caleb). My favourite though, has to be as Captain Mal Reynolds on “Firefly” and then “Serenity”. He was on the short lived Fox show “Drive” a couple of years ago, and also starred in the horror comedy Slither.

Stana Katic – other than being drop dead gorgeous, the only other thing I have seen her in was the third Librarian movie on TNT – in that movie she played a vampire with a French accent – mais oui, tres jolie!!!

This pairing makes for an unusual duo, but one that does entertain. I’m glad that ABC went ahead and renewed it, and if tonight’s episode is any indication, the ratings should vindicate them. Either way – if you saw it last season, then I am sure that you saw tonight’s episode. If you haven’t seen it before, then I would recommend going and seeing the first season as soon as you can!!
